Peter Chin Kean Choy has been teaching sold-out T'ai-Chi classes for over twenty years, helping thousands of people apply an understanding of nature to the maintenance of health and the cure of illness. His unique approach - a combination of T'ai-Chi and Chi Kung (which means 'study of chi energy') based on the Tao of color - has continually brough new dynamism and vigor to the lives of his students. Now he has finally written down his teachings in book form, and the result is T'ai-Chi Chi Kung, a revolutionary approach to T'ai-Chi.
Through fifteen fundamental exercises (eight T'ai-Chi and seven Chi Kung) Chou shows how to harness the chi (or 'Intrinsic energy') of daily life. Following the Tao of color, each of the exercises is associated with a different rainbow color: violet for forgiveness and healing; blue for peach and clarity; green for harmony and prosperity; yellow for humility, kindness and wisdom; yellow for humility, kindness and wisdom; orange for joy and vitality; and red for love, beauty and courage. The first seven T'ai-Chi exercises help to open up the gates and meridian channels of energy in the body, relax the muscles and ligaments, and regulate the blood circulation, with the eighth - the Tao of synthesis - uniting the first seven principles in a Rainbow Fountain of Joy. The remaining seven Chi Kung exercise help to channel, conserve, and direct your body's energy to achieve optimum health, with exercises twelve through fifteen connecting chi to the cycle of the four seasons. With journal space at the end of each exercise to record thoughts and chart the body's progress, this program is a simple and effective path to self-improvement and self-understanding.
The exercises can be practiced individually or as a whole, for as little as five minutes a day. The principles of T'ai-Chi can even be applied to the routine tasks of daily life such as ironing and typing. With the help of Peter Chin Kean Choy's approach to T'ai-Chi, one can achieve a balance of heart, mind and spirit in a happier and healthier body, and share the rewards experienced by Choy's thousands of students.
